B is for Bechsteins Bat and Bronwyn Witchy Fairy
Bechsteins bat is hding out in the woods, aided and abetted by Bronwyn Witchy Fairy who is encouranging the brambles, periwinke and ivy to grow to make the woodland thick and dense. This means it is less welcoming to humans and other bat predetors
Bechstein's bat is very rare , only found in southern Wales and parts of southern England. The UK is at the nothernmost edge of its distribution range. It has gone from being one of the commonest UK species after the last ice age to one of the rarest. This is due largely to the destruction of ancient woodland that once covered the UK (which now represents around 2%). Fund out more by visiting thr bat conservation trust
